09 May SPE/JAPT Workshop: Innovations in Natural Gas – Development, Storage, Transportation and Utilisation
David Manning from Oilfield Technologies will be presenting at the SPE/JAPT Workshop: Innovations in Natural Gas – Development, Storage, Transportation and Utilisation, in Japan – on the 27 to 28th of June 2019 at the Westin in Tokyo.
Natural gas is playing a central role in the primary energy mix, taking into consideration energy security, relatively small carbon dioxide emissions during combustion, ease of use and transportation, and so forth. Meanwhile, in the development and utilisation of natural gas today, “new challenges” have risen in proportion to the increase in reserves coupled with growing environmental awareness, climate change as well as the need to expand utilisation methods and more. From these point of views, this workshop will discuss innovative technologies used in natural gas development, storage, transportation and utilisation.
Grab the opportunity to share and gain new perspectives in the following focus areas
- Conventional and unconventional gas development
- Methane hydrate as unconventional natural gas resources
- The digital shift in the E&P industry’s gas utilisation technology applications – Global excellence experiences
- Gas utilisation technology applications – global excellence experience
- LNG Facility (Liquefaction)
- Emerging LNG midstream – downstream solutions: small/micro LNG and LNG as transport fuel
- Environmentally Friendly Operation
From the viewpoint of increasing reserves, the workshop will discuss the development of not only conventional gas but also unconventional gases including shale gas, coalbed methane, water-soluble natural gas, and methane hydrate. In addition to that, the workshop will be a platform to exchange expertise and ideas on digital technology adoptions particularly in artificial intelligence and deep learning within the natural gas development.
As for environmental impact, storage, transportation and utilisation of natural gas, discussion will focus on various issues with zero-emission being the top, followed by the removal of impurities, application of carbon capture and storage (CCS), use of EOR in exhaust/excess gas, tackling fugitive emission issue and so on. The latest technologies and LNG value chain will also be examined based on the introduction of the recent LNG/micro LNG and gas transportation projects.
Workshop Objectives
This workshop aims to share and discuss the latest technological trends, adoption and applications related to natural gas development amongst engineers and researchers across the upstream and downstream segments. Ultimately, the intention is to progress further in the natural gas development, storage, transportation and utilisation through the application of various state-of-the-art digital technologies along with environmental awareness in mind.
